Can I rent a car in the Azores with a foreign driver's license?

Yes. Valid foreign driver's licenses are accepted in the Azores. An International Driving Permit may be recommended but is not mandatory for most countries.

Is a credit card required to rent a car?

Yes. Most rental companies require a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit.

Is insurance included in the rental price?

Yes. Basic insurance with an excess is included. You can upgrade to full coverage to reduce or eliminate the excess.

Is driving in the Azores difficult?

Driving is generally easy, but roads can be narrow with steep hills, sharp curves and changing weather conditions.

Can I take the rental car to another island?

No. Rental cars are only allowed to be used on the island where they were picked up.
